Repairs

Whistler Nordic Shop offers repairs to most problems with skis, bindings, and poles.

Waxing Service

Whistler Nordic Shop offers 4 different types of glide waxing service ("hot waxing"), and also grip zone service for classical skis:

1. Standard Universal Hot Wax - The appropriate glide wax is melted onto the glide zones of the ski base, ironed onto the base, cooled, acrylic-scraped, and brushed. - $19.95 per pair

2. Low Fluo Hot Wax - For a better glide and all type of snow.
$24.95 per pair

3. Race Waxing - Whistler Nordic Shop' expert technicians will prepare your skis for optimal race performance. (Grip zones are also included for a classical race).
$30.00 per pair

4. Grip Zone Waxing - This will normally include applying a binder wax, then several thin (smoothed out) layers of appropriate kick wax. $9.95 per pair

Hot Boxing

Hot boxing allows skis to absorb a greater amount of wax than standard ironing methods by holding the skis at computer controlled temperatures for a period of time. It has been stated that hot boxing for a few hours is the equivalent of 30 coats of wax applied with an iron.

As stone grinding leaves skis with no wax in the base, all ground skis can benefit from this process.

Basic Saturation $30

Basic Saturation involves 90-120 minutes in the heatbox with a very soft paraffin at a temperature of about 55 degree C. This ensures excellent saturation of the base. The skis will still need to be hardened to the appropriate level for the desired conditions.

Extreme Saturation $50

Extreme Saturation involved a longer period (6-12 hours), in the heatbox at a lower temperature (below 50 degrees C). This long initial saturation is followed by a conditioning stage with a harder paraffin at a temperature of about 60 degrees C. The skis spend less than an hour at this relatively high temperature.
